On August 5th, 2025, something truly special happened in our beloved city of South Miami. The Mayor and City Commission honored Garcia Nevett Chocolatier de Miami with an official proclamation, declaring August 5th “Garcia Nevett Chocolatier de Miami Day.”
This recognition is more than a milestone for our chocolate shop. It’s a celebration of the vibrant community that has supported us from day one, the city we proudly call home, and the shared passion for craft, creativity, and culture that makes South Miami such a unique place to live and work.
The proclamation, signed by Mayor Javier E. Fernández and the City Commissioners—Vice Mayor Brian Corey, Commissioners Lisa Bonich, Steve Calle, and Danny Rodriguez—beautifully captures what we strive for every day.
The words of the proclamation recognized our journey, from our Venezuelan roots to our place among the top chocolatiers in the United States. They celebrated not only the artistry behind our creations but also our commitment to quality, ethical sourcing, and community education.
One of the most touching parts of the proclamation was this acknowledgment:
“The City of South Miami takes pride in recognizing local businesses that exemplify excellence, creativity, and dedication to their craft… Garcia Nevett has significantly contributed to the cultural and economic fabric of South Miami, elevating the city's culinary reputation and supporting local enterprise through their dedication to quality, community, and craftsmanship.”
Reading those words, we felt immense gratitude—not just for the recognition, but for being part of a city that sees and values the impact of small businesses.
When we first opened our doors in South Miami, we were drawn to the city’s small village feel. Here, neighbors know each other, shop owners greet regulars by name, and there’s a shared understanding that supporting local businesses strengthens the entire community.
But South Miami is more than a charming village—it’s also cosmopolitan. Our customers come from all over the world, bringing diverse tastes, experiences, and stories into our shop. This mix of local warmth and international flavor inspires our work every single day.
The city’s support for small businesses has been essential to our growth. From community events to programs that encourage entrepreneurship, South Miami has always created an environment where artisans can thrive. The proclamation is a powerful reminder of how much the city values and nurtures its local entrepreneurs.
A Year of Sweet Achievements
This year has already been extraordinary for Garcia Nevett Chocolatier de Miami. Being recognized by USA Today as the No. 3 Chocolate Shop in the United States was a huge honor. It put us on the national stage and brought new visitors from across the country into our store.
But this recognition from our hometown feels different—it’s more personal. It’s about the daily interactions, the customers who have been with us since our first chocolate truffle, and the community that has cheered us on at every step.
Gratitude to the City of South Miami
We want to take this moment to say a heartfelt thank you to the Mayor, Vice Mayor, and Commissioners for this incredible honor.
Thank you for recognizing the work that goes into every chocolate, every recipe, and every customer experience we create. Thank you for valuing small businesses and understanding how much they contribute to the city’s culture, economy, and identity.
And thank you for giving us the opportunity to celebrate this proclamation with the very community that has made our success possible.
As we look to the future, this honor inspires us to keep innovating, creating, and sharing our love for chocolate with South Miami and beyond.
We are excited to continue:
-
Introducing new seasonal creations and signature collections.
-
Hosting chocolate-making workshops for the community.
-
Representing South Miami on the national stage as one of the country’s best chocolatiers.
But most of all, we look forward to continuing to be part of South Miami’s story—a city where creativity, entrepreneurship, and community spirit thrive.
From the bottom of our chocolate-loving hearts, thank you, South Miami.
Thank you for supporting small businesses.
Thank you for celebrating craftsmanship.
Thank you for embracing us as part of your community.
August 5th, 2025 will always be a special day for us—a reminder of the sweet bond we share with our city.
Here’s to many more years of creating, sharing, and savoring moments together in South Miami.
