Chocolate Chip Cookies - Tasty

This is Tati’s, our little sister, version of a recipe from Tasty. They are quite literally the best chocolate chip cookies. Tati always has a bag of frozen cookies in the fridge for emergencies and it is highly recommended you do the same. Double the recipe and freeze some!

Yields: Approximately 12 cookies

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup sugar

  • ¾ cup brown sugar, packed

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • ½ cup butter, melted

  • 1 egg

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1¼ cups all-purpose flour

  • ½ teaspoon baking soda

  • Chocolate chips (as desired)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven:

    • Preheat to 350°F (180°C).

  2. Mix wet ingredients:

    • In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, brown sugar, salt, and melted butter until a smooth paste forms with no lumps.

    • Whisk in the egg and vanilla extract, beating until light ribbons fall off the whisk.

  3. Add dry ingredients:

    • Sift in the flour and baking soda. Fold the mixture gently until just combined. Do not overmix.

  4. Incorporate chocolate chips:

    • Fold in the chocolate chips. Chill the dough for 30 minutes.

  5. Bake the cookies:

    • Scoop the dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing evenly.

    • Bake for 12–15 minutes until the edges are golden brown and the centers are set.

  6. Cool and serve:

    • Let the cookies cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
